Admissions Information Session and Campus Tour

9:30 a.m.

A campus visit is 90 minutes and includes a 30-minute information session and a one-hour guided tour of the campus. The tour is conducted primarily outdoors, but does enter specific buildings. The information session is conducted indoors and is led by student ambassadors and an admissions counselor. Pre-registration through the Admissions Office is required.

Jenny Wu: Otherly

Through her creative process, Jenny Wu, visiting assistant professor of fine arts, transforms paint from a flat medium to a malleable material, expanding the traditional limitations of painting as two-dimensional. The exhibition of her work, Otherly, refers to the state of being something else, which references both the process of creation and the theme of Wu’s art. With such titles as When You Are Disappointed, Try to Lower Your Expectations and A Set of Lies That Have Been Agreed On, her pieces allude to notions of otherness due to ethnicity, political differences, or personal histories.

Lunch and Learn: Study Away Opportunities

Trinity College is proud to offer a portfolio of five Trinity-administered study away programs located in Cape Town, New York City, Rome, Shanghai, and Vienna, and 70+ Trinity-approved external programs in more than 30 countries. Approximately 50% of Trinity students study away for a semester, summer, academic year, or January Term during their Trinity career. In this session, you can learn about study away at Trinity including how and when to apply, how to choose a program, how to integrate study away into the academic experience, and ow financing study away works. David Sterling Brown ’06 Book Talk and Virtual Reality Art Gallery Tour

David Sterling Brown ’06, tenured Associate Professor of English, will offer a reading from his new Cambridge University Press book titled Shakespeare’s White Others. Following the reading, Brown will engage audience members in a brief Q&A session before transitioning to a demonstration of his innovative virtual reality art gallery and its inaugural exhibition titled “Visualizing Race Virtually.” Featuring artwork from the world-renowned Folger Shakespeare Library, the exhibition complements Brown’s scholarship and offers resources that enable the general public to learn about Shakespeare and race, Brown’s primary areas of scholarly expertise. Located in the Fuller Arch in the heart of the Long Walk, the Wall of Honor celebrates lifetimes of philanthropy. Etched into the Wall are the names of those alumni, parents, friends, and organizations who have had institution-building impact at the College.

Shabbat Service and Dinner at the Zachs Hillel House

Every Friday night, the Hillel House comes alive with an engaging, musical Shabbat service and a delicious catered kosher dinner that is free to all students. Hillel often partners with other student organizations to put on themed dinners that can include cross-cultural discussions, cooking classes, speed-dating, and more.

Bicentennial 1823 Series: JOY!

7:30 p.m.

As part of Trinity College’s 1823 Series, the Austin Arts Center presents JOY!, a dazzling spectacle of music, dance, and circus on October 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and October 14 at 2:00 p.m. Under the direction of choreographer Tandy Beal, this world-class, multi-talented ensemble of dancers, acrobats, and circus artists will perform to live music from award-winning a cappella group SoVoSó. Tailored to Trinity’s Bicentennial, the magical madcap of more than 25 JOY! performers will be joined by students, faculty, and professionals from the College, and the surrounding region. The free performances will be staged in the Austin Arts Center’s Goodwin Theater.

Admissions 101

The Admissions 101 program provides Trinity families an opportunity to learn more about the college admissions selection process in a structured yet relaxed way. The program begins with remarks and a Q&A with Matt Hyde, dean of admissions and financial aid, followed by a hands-on workshop where students and families participate in a mock admissions committee.
