Trinity is a mask-friendly community and the college will continue to respect the right of any individual – including students, faculty, staff, and visitors – to continue to wear a mask. All members of the Trinity community should act in a manner that demonstrates respect and understanding for those around them, including and most especially for individual choice regarding health and safety considerations.

• From January 25 – February 1, masks will be required in all classrooms and instructional spaces. This indoor mask-requirement is a precaution during the transition period back from winter break and in response to the current increase we are seeing associated with holiday travel.
• Starting February 1, 2023, masking will become optional in all settings with the following exceptions:
  • all health care facilities (e.g., Health Center, athletic training);
  • campus spaces with posted signage indicating a mask requirement (signage is available at the Events and Campus Operations Office in Mather Hall);
  • any specifically designated mask-required gathering, office, or meeting;
  • Faculty members may require masks in their designated instructional or classroom spaces. It is expected that students will adhere to this requirement should a faculty member require masking.

In the above locations and situations, all members of the campus community should wear a surgical-type, minimum ASTM level 1, or a KN95 mask. Cloth masks are not allowed unless they are used over ASTM-approved masks as part of double masking.

All campus community members will be required to keep a mask with them at all times and be prepared to wear it upon entering a space where it is required or at the request of another community member.

We will continue to monitor positivity rates during this time and will be sure to communicate if there are further adjustments to the above policy. As a reminder, we are a mask-friendly community and expect everyone to respect the decision of individuals who choose to wear masks.

As a reminder, wearing a mask remains an important public health tool coupled with being vaccinated and boosted. Individuals who fall into a CDC high-risk category should continue to wear masks. Individuals who are not vaccinated or who have a vaccination/booster exemption must remain masked at all times.

If you are not feeling well and are experiencing COVID-like symptoms before returning to campus for the spring semester, we request that you administer a COVID test at home. If you test positive, please remain home and call the Health Center for further instructions.

Students who test positive will isolate in place per the protocols that were implemented for spring 2022. In most cases, students will remain in their current room, leaving only to retrieve prepared grab-and-go meals from Mather Hall, to access bathrooms, or to receive medical care. Positive results need to be reported to Kate Durante in Human Resources at [email protected], who will consult on proper protocols, including quarantining. Employees also must advise their managers, per the usual process, if they are not able to work due to illness.

Effective May 1, Trinity will discontinue the current COVID vaccination requirement. While the College still recommends that all students and employees remain updated with their COVID-19 vaccinations, we will no longer mandate the COVID vaccine.

If you are eligible for the booster and you tested positive for COVID-19 prior to getting your booster shot, you may receive the vaccination immediately following the 10-day isolation period.

Effective July 1, 2022, guests at indoor campus events will no longer have to provide proof of vaccination to be admitted.

We do request that visitors only attend events if they are up to date with all COVID-19 vaccinations, as recommended by the CDC. As we have done throughout the pandemic, we have adjusted our policies as campus and community conditions have changed over time.

As a mask-friendly community, the college will continue to respect the preference of any individual—including students, faculty, staff, and visitors—to continue to wear a mask. We maintain our current indoor masking policy, encourage individuals to get vaccinated, and ask that any person who has tested positive or is experiencing symptoms remain at home.

The college’s COVID-19 Steering Committee continues to monitor the transmission rates in the region. As always, we are guided by the State of Connecticut’s policies and recommendations, as well as recommendations from public health and infectious disease experts and organizations. Safety, health, and well-being remain our all-important guiding principles as we make decisions about policies and procedures.

The current travel policy will remain in place at this time. Faculty and staff may participate in college sponsored travel in accordance with CDC travel guidance, which differentiates between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. It also has guidance specific to domestic and international travel. International college sponsored travel by employees is prohibited to all areas categorized by the CDC as Level 4 risks, where the COVID-19 level is “very high.” Such travel to Level 3 areas is permissible in very limited circumstances and must be approved by a division head.
